Swap-bot and my Group/Swaps

www.swap-bot.com

Do you swap-bot? I’ve just discovered, because none of you told me about it before now, a very cool (mostly) craft site, primarily for swapping crafts and the materials to make them. Too freaking cool, and you must check it out. I’m easy to find over there, as my name is myhalfofthebrain.

I joined a little over a week ago, and have already completed (sent and received) 5 or so virtual and snail-mail swaps. And I’m the winner in one of the groups I joined of something like 39 fat quarters—should start receiving them in a few days. Some of them will be coming from outside the US, so I’m very likely to get wonderful fabrics I’ve never dreamed of! Did I tell you already how awesome this site is???

I’ve started a group over there called Garlands, Bunting, Prayer Flags for the purpose of making available tutorials for and swapping of Garlands, Bunting and Prayer Flags, and you can sign up for my first swap as hostess. The last day to join and sign up for the swap is October 8.

I’m planning to start an ambitious new swap for a garland made of 1000 origami cranes, a symbol of peace. The cranes would be made, ideally, from recycled scraps of paper. The last day to sign up would be US Election Day, November 4, and the last day to mail your garland would be Inauguration Day, January 20.

Please do check out the site and my group and swaps. And a tip: if you do get involved, I recommend starting a spreadsheet, or you’ll soon be overwhelmed by keeping track of who you are sending to and receiving from. See you there!

I love swap-bot! Welcome! You can find me there as sweetavalanche. I’m in a bunch of the fabric swaps you’re signed up for, so hopefully our paths will cross. And if you haven’t checked out the Wishlist group yet, you should. It’s amazing!

I love Swap-Bot, it makes it so easy on hosts by assigning the partners and sending all those email reminders for you! Did anyone tell you about SwapDex yet? If not, I will, because I write it!

i got burned one too many times by partners on swapbot. i signed up maybe two years ago and had a lot of fun with some fabulous and generous swap partners but then all of the sudden people totally flaked out. perhaps i will have a poke around swapbot now. my bad luck is not swapbot’s fault. i just have a tendency to give, give, give and when i receive nothing at all back it makes me extra sad. feel sorrier for me. just kidding! i hope you have much luck and fun trading with some gorgeous crafters around the world!

I HEART SwapBot too. In fact I’m reading your blog as part of a swap we are in: I Love Your Blog swap.
I am having fun reading your blog. I enjoy quilting too, but don’t do it exclusively yet. I’m still practicing the bias bordering. Ugh! I can sew the front, batting, backing and add embellies, but the borders, the final touches-the LAST part of the quilt kills me! But I’m practing :O).
I HEART your dmc floss mosaic! Aren’t they a lotta fun? *lol*

You’ve got a lot of neat links- I”ve bookmarked you and will come back later to blurf (blog surf) some more.
I’m visiting your blog from the Swap Bot swap!
    I enjoyed reading your blog!
    Have a fab weekend!

    Welcome to swap-bot.

Like everything in life its a risk to swap but so far the benefits are out weighting the negatives - if that ever changes I would stop swapping.
